Overview

Functionality has been added in the Direct v3.6 Suite to enable configuration of the deletion of compressed session logs after a specified time period. In this article, we will explore the option to delete archived zipped logs after a specified time frame.

Environment

FileCatalyst Server v3.6 build 17 and later.

FileCatalyst HotFolder v3.6 build 17 and later.

Resolution

FileCatalyst Server:

  1. Turn off the FileCatalyst Server service and close the FileCatalyst Server Remote Admin application.
  2. For the FileCatalyst Server logs, navigate to the FileCatalyst Server installation directory and open up the fcconf.conf file (/path/to/FileCatalyst Server/fcconf.conf) in a text editor.
  3. Place the following entry into the file, replacing %int_value% with the number of days. The %int_value% has to be greater than 0 for this property to work:

    FCServer.server.config.time.preservelogs.days=%int_value%

  4. Start the FileCatalyst Server service.

Filecatalyst HotFolder:

  1. Turn off the FileCatalyst HotFolder service and close the FileCatalyst Hotfolder Admin application.
  2. To compress the FileCatalyst HotFolder logs, open the FileCatalyst HotFolder install directory and edit the fcconf.conf file (/path/to/FileCatalyst HotFolder/fchf.conf) in a text editor.
  3. Place the following entry into the file, replacing %int_value% with a whole number of days. The %int_value% has to be greater than 0 for this property to work:

    FC.hotfolder.config.time.preservelogs.days=%int_value%

  4. Start the FileCatalyst HotFolder Service.
