Enabling Anonymous User Access on a FileCatalyst Server in Linux without a GUI

Overview

This feature will allow a user to access the FileCatalyst Server using the anonymous user account. In this article, the resolution steps will be outlined in a Linux environment. This method has been tested on various versions of Ubuntu, CentOS and Fedora.

 

Environment

FileCatalyst Server v3.5 and later.

Linux Environment.

 

Resolution

  1. Server Configuration:
    1. Start your Filecatalyst Direct Server as a service and use the Server Remote Admin application to verify that it is licensed.
    2. In the Server Remote Admin, click on the Users tab and verify that anonymous account is disabled, it should be greyed-out.
    3. Close the application.

  2. How to Enable the Anonymous Account:
    1. Open a Terminal Window in Linux.
    2. Navigate to your FileCatalyst Server directory, for example, /opt/utechsoft/server/.
    3. Run the following command in the terminal:

java -cp ./FileCatalystServer.jar unlimited.fc.server.api.FCServer -host localhost:12400 -user admin/system -enableUser anonymous true
