Overview

TransferAgent on Windows 8 and later may not be able to list Mapped Network Drives (with drive letters). This is due to a Microsoft setting in their User Access Control (UAC). Microsoft’s implementation of User Access Control (UAC) in Windows 8 restricts the visibility of mapped network drives to TransferAgent and other Windows services. Rather than disabling or lowering the UAC levels, a registry entry can be added to allow the TransferAgent application to access these drives.

Environment

FileCatalyst TransferAgent v3.5 and later

Resolution

1. Log on with an Administrator level account to the Windows machine.
2. Unzip the file enablelinkedconnections.zip located in the application installation directory. For example C:\Program Files\FileCatalyst\TransferAgent\
3. Double-click enablelinkedconnections.reg to add the registry entry to the Windows machine.
4. Reboot the computer to have the changes take effect.
