How to Redirect Webmail or Workflow from the Tomcat Root to /fcweb or /workflow

Overview

When connecting to a landing page of a Tomcat Web Server directly at http://mycompany.com/ you will not be redirected to FileCatalyst Workflow or Webmail automatically. This will hit the landing page of the Tomcat Server. For FileCatalyst Workflow or Webmail to be accessed there must be a /workflow or /fcweb appended to the end of the URL.

We can edit the index page in the Root folder of the Tomcat Web Server so that URLs can be redirected to Workflow or Webmail.

 

Environment

FileCatalyst Workflow v4.9 and later.

 

Resolution

  1. Shut down the Tomcat Web Server service.
  2. Navigate to the <path to Tomcat>/webapps/ROOT/ directory and open the index.html page in a text editor. If a page does not exist create it.
  3. Delete or comment out everything between the <BODY> and </BODY> tags in order to hide the content.
  4. Add the following lines of code in this file:


    <HEAD>
     <meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0; url=/workflow">
    </HEAD>

  5. Save the index.html file and restart the Tomcat Web Server service.
