Modifying the Footer in Workflow

Overview

FileCatalyst Workflow offers full control and customization of your deployment. It allows administrators or web architects to provide the connecting client with the look and feel of the companies design. One configurable element is the Footer of a web page. Many IT Admins have used this area to attach a message to the clients offering contact details and hours of operation. This is just one example of a use case for the footer. This element can be configured through the Admin Console of FileCatalyst Workflow. This article will outline how to deploy a footer on every Workflow web page.

Environment

FileCatalyst Workflow v4.9 and later.

FileCatalyst Webmail v4.9 and later.

Resolution

This solution will require some customization from a Web Developer but it is a good starting point. To deploy this solution please complete all of the steps outlined below:

  1. Login in as Super Admin User.
  2. Click on the Modify Configuration button in the top menu bar.
  3. Under Template Setup, click on HTML Footer link. Choose **Default** from the list.
  4. Create a DIV and give and ID. For example:

    <div class="footerMessage">This is a sample footer message!</div>

  5. Hit the Save button.
  6. From the Modify Configuration page, click on Common Style Sheet from the Template Setup Menu.
  7. Add the bottom of this file add your customizations. I tested using:

    .footerMessage {
    background-color: white;
    border: 2px solid red;
    height: 60px;
    vertical-align: middle;
    margin-top: 10px;
    width: 623px;
    margin-left: auto;
    margin-right: auto;
    }

    The ID used in step 4, needs to be called here. This is the section where the customizations of how the message is displayed. Do not make changes to the template file itself. These get overwritten on upgrades of Workflow. Any changes made to the Common Style Sheet will get carried forward when upgrades take place.


  8. Hit the Save button.
  9. Logout of Workflow and clear the browser cache. You will notice that your changes are displayed once the cache is cleared.
