Overview
The FileCatalyst Server will install and create a Self Signed Certificate on its first install and launch.
The FileCatalyst Server Admin application is equipped with a tool to create a Self Signed SSL certificate. For testing purposes, this certificate can be used to secure the internal Grizzly Web Server and the communication layer between the FileCatalyst Server and Client when the Secure Server Port is used.
We do not recommend that you use the Self Signed Certificate in production as it will fail a compliance test since we are not a Trusted Security Authority/Vendor.
Environment
FileCatalyst Server v3.5 and later.
Resolution
The FileCatalyst Server Remote Admin tool can be utilized to create your own Self Signed Certificate. Please use the following guide and follow the prompts to use this solution:
- Open the FileCatalyst Server Remote Admin and go to the Security tab.
- Click on New Certificate to generate your own Self Signed Certificate.

- Fill out the form and hit Next. On the next page, we suggest you use a key that has 2048 bit length.
- Once you have filled out the information on the third page, hit Finish and Apply.
